Marijuana seized after an abandoned vehicle call

KAWARTHA LAKES: A routine abandoned vehicle call led to drug charges, in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

On Friday, July 5th, the Kawartha Lakes detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) put out a press release, about a recent drug investigation.

“Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a call for service, for what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle on private property. Once the officers arrived on scene, they located people. The investigating officer entered a drug investigation, [and] as a result, 56 marijuana plants [were] pulled and seized for destruction,” the release explained.

29-year-old, Jesse Gorrill was arrested and charged with possession of more than four cannabis plants (not budding or flowering), under the Cannabis Act.

“The accused was charged and released from custody with a future court date,” the release concluded.
