Man dead after two vehicle collision in Scugog

SCUGOG: A 44-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital following a head on motor-vehicle collision in Scugog on Saturday afternoon. According to police on Saturday, November 9th, at approximately 2:26 pm, members of North Division were called to Simcoe Street and Scugog Line 3 regarding a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. A 2011 white Chevrolet Aveo being operated by a 44-year-old man was travelling southbound on Simcoe Street when it veered into the path of a northbound grey 2019 Mazda Cx5. The 68-year old female driver of the Mazda suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital. They also transported the driver of the Aveo to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Members of the Collision Investigation Unit were called, and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
