BROCK: This Saturday, September 27th, Brock Township is inviting residents of all ages to celebrate Culture Days, with a variety of engaging events, showcasing the community’s rich history and vibrant culture. From hands-on museum experiences to interactive library adventures, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

“Culture Days are a wonderful opportunity, for our community to connect with its history, celebrate local culture, and create lasting memories,” said Mayor Mike Jubb. “I encourage everyone to come out and take part in these unique events. There’s so much to discover in our own backyard.”

The Cannington and Area Historical Society will welcome visitors to the Blacksmith and Carriage Shop, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shop, one of Ontario’s oldest blacksmith locations, still in its original urban setting, offers a rare glimpse into early trades and transportation, with guided tours highlighting the tools and techniques which played an essential role in the community’s development.

At the same time, the Brock Township Public Library is hosting The Amazing Library Race, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at its Beaverton, Cannington, and Sunderland branches. Participants begin by picking up a Culture Days Passport, at any branch, and then follow a trail of clues through the library which ultimately leads to a geocache treasure outside the building.

“This event combines literacy, local history, and a sense of adventure,” said, Brock Township Public Library Program Coordinator, Jen Fulop. “Families will learn fascinating facts about our historic library buildings, while racing to find the final geocache. It’s educational, fun, and interactive!”

Later in the afternoon, the Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society will open the Beaver River Museum and its new Beaver River Railway model train exhibit, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can explore the museum’s collection, of more than 10,000 artifacts, and learn about the history of Beaverton and the former townships of Thorah and Eldon.

Mayor Jubb added, “I’m proud of our volunteers and organizations, who work tirelessly to preserve Brock Township’s heritage. Culture Days is a perfect chance for residents to appreciate their local history and connect with these incredible community assets.”

Whether you’re drawn to historic buildings, interactive learning, or outdoor adventures, Culture Days, in Brock Township, promises a weekend full of discovery, fun, and family-friendly activities.
