The rain this weekend was welcome for the dry earth and the rain barrels that needed filling back up.
Hope you have enjoyed the cooler mornings for a walk.
Congratulations to all members of the Durham West 4-H Go for the gold! Earlier this week, five members from Durham West travelled to Peterborough County for an evening of challenging questions and fun. After a hard-fought game against the Kawartha Lakes Halliburton team, Durham West came out on top and will be representing Region 3 at the provincial competition at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. Congratulations to all teams who participated, and thank you to our hosts and many volunteers who made the evening possible.
You may have seen the gigantic puffball Rob put on Facebook Sunday. I have never seen one that big, and it was growing on our lawn by a tree line. It was still very white, and with Google's advice, we melted butter and fried it in 1-inch-thick pieces and enjoyed the texture and flavour. It is a bit different but similar to a mushroom texture.
Church at Epsom United will be back on September 27th at 10:30 a.m.
