Enter the Port Perry Fair
COLLEEN GREEN, The Standard
SCUGOG: The Port Perry Agricultural Society is proud to host the 169th Port Perry Fair. The fair will be held at the fair grounds, on the corner of Reach Street and Old Simcoe Street, starting on Saturday, September 3rd at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, September 5th.
The Port Perry Fair has become a Labour Day tradition for many locals and visitors. Thanks to the addition of the Extreme Rodeo a few years ago, which added the Port Perry Fair as a stop on their North American Circuit, the fair now attracts visitors from all over North America.
The fair is a must-see event with numerous features such as the always popular Demolition Derby, Country Music Concert, Truck and Tractor Pull, Extreme Rodeo, Lawn Tractor Pulls and Midway.
This year’s concert has Madeline Merlo as the headliner, with Ryan Vanlieshout for the opening act.
For those who like a challenge there is the Lumberjack Show.
Back this year is the popular FMX Motocross Show presented by Edge Motorsports. Be sure to check out their high-flying stunts.
For something more agricultural, there is the 4H beef and dairy shows, Ontario County Holstein show, commercial beef, and the beef show and auction. There is also the produce and flower exhibits to enter and view.
For those that are creative, there is the culinary, crafts, and photography sections to enter and view.
An anonymous donor is offering $1000 to the best blueberry pie baker that Port Perry can find. This event is only open to men, in an effort to get the then baking. However, there are lots of other classes that can be entered by anyone.
