Eagles soar over Lumberjacks

The Port Perry Lumberjacks lost their third consecutive game against the Clarington Eagles, at Scugog Arena, on Sunday, December 8th.

The Lumberjacks were coming off of back-to-back losses, to the Georgina Ice, while the Eagles have only lost three times in 25 games.

The Eagles had a dominant start to the game, with the Lumberjacks not mustering a shot through the first half of the period. Over six and a half minutes in, the Eagles scored, to take the first lead of the game.

Then, over four minutes into the second period, Clarington extended the lead, to 2-0. However, just 48 seconds later, Andrew Naccarato-Soule put the puck in the net, to cut the deficit to 2-1. Next, the Eagles would restore the two-goal deficit with a power play goal, less than eight minutes into the period.

Just 59 seconds into the third period, Clarington scored again, making it a 4-1 game. The Eagles added a power play goal later in the period, and the Lumberjacks lost, by a score of 5-1. The final shot totals were 39 for the Eagles and 20 for the Lumberjacks.

One Timers:

- Fans are encouraged to bring any mittens, scarfs, and toques they wish to donate to Operation Scugog, to Scugog Arena this Sunday, December 15th, for the Lumberjacks’ annual Wooley Toss game. Those items will be thrown onto the ice, when the Lumberjacks score their first goal, in a game against the Little Britain Merchants. That game will begin at 2:25 p.m.

- The Lumberjacks will be hosting a Christmas Giveaway game, on Sunday, December 22nd at Scugog Arena. They will be facing the Schomberg Cougars, at 2:25 p.m. There will be raffles and prizes, and all hockey players 18 and under, who wear a jersey, will get in free.
