Brock Township hears concerns regarding gravel pit expansion

DAN CEARNS, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter, for The Standard

BROCK: A couple of residents expressed their concerns to Brock council regarding a planned Aggregate Pit expansion on Monday, October 25th.

At the meeting, Kaik Bharucha and Matthew Negrazis discussed their concerns with an application from CBM Aggregates to expand their Sunderland South Pit operation.

“We have endured for years the CBM pit noise at night,” Mr. Bharucha explained. “I strongly urge and request the Township of Brock council [not to] encourage any rezoning changes to the subject property that CBM now owns.”

He added he believes this expansion could lead to “severe social impacts” on the local community and believes “gravel pits” do not line up parallel with the Township’s slogan of ‘Breathe it in.’

Mr. Negrazis listed a “potential decrease in property values” and “noise pollution” as two of his biggest concerns with this application.
