Brock Council receives Community Safety presentation from Durham Region Police Service Board

Durham Region Police Service Board (DRPSB) Chair Shaun Collier presented the October 2025 Community Policing Report at Tuesday, October 14th's Brock Township Council meeting.
Under the Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA), changes have been made for Boards and Services. Training and Education, equipment, oversight by the Inspector General-new codes of conduct, and expanding the definition of “adequate and effective”.
Current areas of focus include the 2024 Strategic Plan, Financial and Capital Resources, and Community Engagement. Specific focus in the Strategic Plan is being a leader in modern and innovative policing, having strong partnerships that enhance community safety, and earning the trust and confidence of members and local communities.
The presentation also briefly covered Community Safety Issues. These included firearms, auto theft, and mental health, in addition to frauds and scams, intimate partner violence, human trafficking, and roadway safety.
The Durham Region Police Service Board offers various ways to stay connected. Their main website, durhampoliceboard.ca, features board meeting calendars, agendas, minutes, the DRPS Strategic Plan, the Diversity Plan, board policies and announcements, and DRPS budget documents.
Council meetings can be accessed on the Township of Brock website under Mayor and Council and Council Meetings Calendar. Brock Council's next meeting will be on Monday, October 27th, at 6 p.m.
