BLACKSTOCK: Residents and businesses in the Hamlet of Blackstock are being asked to limit water use as the Regional Municipality of Durham implements temporary conservation measures in support of ongoing infrastructure work.
The advisory applies to all municipal water users in Blackstock, located in the Township of Scugog, from March 27th through April 27th, though officials note that unfavourable weather conditions could affect the project timeline.
The conservation request comes as upgrades and construction continue at the community’s municipal well site. According to the Region, reducing water consumption during this period is essential to maintaining adequate supply levels, particularly to ensure readiness for emergencies such as fire protection.
Residents are being asked to discontinue all non-essential outdoor water use, including lawn watering, car washing, and pool filling. Indoor water use should also be kept to a minimum where possible.
Municipal officials stress that these precautionary measures are necessary to safeguard the community’s water system while improvements are underway.
Updates on the project and any changes to the conservation period will be shared by the Region as work progresses.
