Blackstock Fair back this month

SCUGOG: The Blackstock Fair is returning for its 154th year next weekend.

Action at the Blackstock Fairgrounds begins with the demolition derby on Friday, August, 23rd at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 14 and free for children five years of age and under. Parking is $2. There will be a beverage garden on site that night.

There will be plenty of things for all ages at the fair on Saturday, August 24th. There will be a Kids’ World, including inflatables, face painting, a hay obstacle course, and a corn play table. A pedal tractor pull will also be held. For the inflatables, there will be a $10 all you can bounce on fair day fee.

Horse shows start at 8:30 a.m. and cattle shows start at 12:30 p.m. There will also be exhibits to look through inside the Blackstock Recreation Centre. The Outback Cloggers are also expected to perform, and there will be other entertainment throughout the day.

New to the fair this year is a mechanical bull, sponsored by Martyn Mini Hoe

There is a $10 admission fee for adults on the Saturday, and kids and youth get in free. Parking is $2.

Blackstock Agricultural Society President Karen Barkey called the annual fair a “great small fair in a great community”, with “lots for everyone to see.” She added the community’s support for the fair over the years has been “huge.”
