BLACKSTOCK by Tammy Phillips

On Wednesday, May 11th, at 6:30 p.m., a Blackstock Minor League Hockey (BMLH) meeting has been scheduled to hold elections for the BMHL Executive, at the Blackstock Recreation Complex Meeting Room. Please enter from the parking lot doors.

It is pivotal for the community to be aware that if BMLH is not able to elect and fill the executive positions for the 2022-2023 seasons, the league will not be able to run. Please consider volunteering to keep this community league running.

On Saturday, May 28th, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., The Blackstock-Nestleton United Church is hosting a perennial plant sale in the Church Parking Lot. This is a great opportunity to add a splash of colour to your gardens. Plant donations are appreciated. If you have plants to donate, please get in touch with Jan Byers at 905-986-5112.

On Saturday, June 4th, with a 10 a.m. shotgun start, Cartwright Sports & Recreation Inc. will host its annual golf tournament Fundraiser, at Sunnybrae Golf Course, in Prince Albert.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. The cost is $125 per player. Fees include 18 holes, golf & cart, on-course contests, morning muffin/beverage, BBQ ‘to-go’ lunch during the round and appetizers during “Happy Hour” gathering after the tournament.

The organization seeks hole sponsors ($100) and foursomes for this fun community event.

All proceeds will go towards future development and upgrades to Cartwright Fields sports park, trails and facilities in Nestleton. Registration is filling up fast, so please act quickly.

Advance payments are required for golf fees, sponsorships, and donations can be eTransferred to: nannerstinson@hotmail.caorwilma@xplornet.ca.

Blackstock Truck and Tractor Pull is roaring back onto the fairgrounds on Friday, July 7th at 7:30 p.m. and again on Saturday, July 8th at 7 p.m. If you would like to volunteer for a gate shift or a shift at the Full Pull Beer Tent, please email Janet at: jrvc78@hotmail.com.

The Blackstock Fair is returning after a two year hiatus due to Covid and will be held on Saturday, August 27th, followed by the always exciting Demolition Derby. Please save the dates and plan on supporting these local events.

The Blackstock Agricultural Society is also looking for someone to keep their website up-to-date with pictures and information. Please contact Karen Barkey at karen.barkey71@gmail.com.

Please email news and items for consideration to link2tammy@gmail.com by 12 noon on the Monday prior to publication date.
