BLACKSTOCK by Tammy Phillips
Such a difference a week can make in the wake of COVID-19. And no doubt, I will be able to repeat that same sentence next week. In the meantime, be responsible, take care and stay well. Following the Province of Ontario’s order to close publicly funded schools until April 5th, 2020, the Township of Scugog is supporting the government’s efforts to curtail the spread of COVID-19, all public Township facilities, with the exception of Municipal Office (181 Perry Street), closed and/or were cancelled as of March 13th and will remain so until April 5th. This includes the Blackstock Recreation Complex encompassing the ice rink, public skating and the remainder of Blackstock Minor Hockey League’s season and any ongoing programs, public events and rentals scheduled at the hall. Additional closures include: Scugog Community and Recreation Centre (SCRC); all 2020 March Break Camps are cancelled; The Lookout located at SCRC; The Scugog Memorial Public Library; Fire Administration Office located at 30 Crandell Street; all Township of Scugog public events, open houses and recreation programs and rentals. Questions or additional information can be directed to the Municipal Office, 181 Perry Street, Port Perry by calling: 905-985-7346 or emailing: email@example.com. The Blackstock-Nestleton United Church has cancelled worship services March 22nd and March 29th. Blackstock Euchre has also been cancelled until the week of April 5th. The March 10th euchre results were: Pat Allemang finished in first place. Val Priebe was second. Mary Lou Breward was third. Marion Koppens, Elmo Gibson and Phil Sibbert finished in a combined fourth and fifth place. The most lone hands went to Elmo Gibson. Penny’s Market, Remedy’s Rx Pharmacy, and Blackstock Pizza, while all reporting increased traffic, remain open to serve the community at the time of submission. Blackstock community news items can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by noon on Monday prior to publication.
