UXBRIDGE: Buoyed by an influx of new players, the Uxbridge Bruins boasted back-to-back weekend wins over the Clarington Eagles and Little Britain Merchants. On Friday, November 29th at the Bear Den, the Bruins featured several new faces in the lineup, having recently acquired goaltender Noah Acciaccaferri and forwards Cameron Gillis, Jackson Evans and Tyler Thompson. Gillis opened the scoring, assisted by the newly named Orr Division player of the month Josh Cammalleri seven minutes into the action. In the second period, Cam Moffitt extended the Uxbridge advantage to 2 to 0. Late in the third period, the Eagles drew to within one on a power play goal. But, Brendan Reid quickly replied for the home side, restoring a two-goal lead for Uxbridge. Moffitt’s second goal of the night into an empty net sealed a 4 to 1 victory for the Bruins. Cam Smith stopped 27 shots to pick up the win in goal for Uxbridge. There was little time to rest on their laurels however, as the Bruins made the trek to Little Britain on Saturday night for a showdown with their longtime rivals. The Merchants rang up the first goal of the evening, with Tyler Watson lighting the lamp just over four minutes into the game. However, an Adam Bilyea goal just 32 seconds later tied the game. Moffitt scored the lone goal of the second period to lift Uxbridge into the lead. Later, third period goals from Daniel Giorgio and Justin Bennett put the game out of reach, as the Bruins roared to another 4 to 1 win. Smith was sensational in goal, making 24 saves in a winning effort.

Bear Necessities: – This weekend, the Bruins will be away from the Bear Den for the only time on a Friday night this season. Instead, they will be in Keswick at the Georgina Ice Palace looking to melt the Ice in a 7:30 p.m. match-up. – On Saturday night, the Bruins return to Little Britain for another meeting with the Merchants, with the action getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
