BROCK: The Brock Township Public Library is inviting residents to embark on an unforgettable adventure, without ever leaving Beaverton.

National bestselling author and professional adventurer, Adam Shoalts will appear at the Beaverton Branch Public Library, on Tuesday, October 21st, from 6 to 7 p.m., sharing stories from his solo expeditions across some of Canada’s most remote wilderness regions.

Mr. Shoalts will also discuss his newest book, ‘Vanished Beyond the Map: The Mystery of Lost Explorer Hubert Darrell’ which follows his quest to retrace the footsteps of a long-lost adventurer and solve a century-old mystery.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the unknown. Those blank spaces on the map that spark our curiosity,” said Mr. Shoalts. “This book explores not just the mystery of a missing explorer but also the enduring human desire to see what lies beyond the next horizon.”

Declared one of the “greatest living explorers” by Canadian Geographic and dubbed “Canada’s Indiana Jones” by the Toronto Star, Adam Shoalts has built a remarkable career, mapping uncharted rivers, leading expeditions for the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, and venturing for months at a time without seeing another person.

In 2022, he famously set off by canoe, from his doorstep, on a nearly 4,000-kilometre solo journey to the Arctic. His adventures, and his storytelling, have inspired readers across Canada.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Adam Shoalts to Beaverton,” said Katie-Scarlett MacGillivray, Chief Executive Officer of the Brock Township Public Library. “His books and expeditions remind us how much wonder and beauty still exist in the natural world, and how important it is to protect it.”

Mr. Shoalts’s bestselling works, including ‘Beyond the Trees’ and ‘Where the Falcon Flies’, will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

Registration is required, and space is limited. Residents can register online, through the Brock Public Library website, or by calling the Beaverton Branch directly.

“Whether you love the outdoors, Canadian history, or just a great story, I think you’ll enjoy this evening,” Mr. Shoalts added. “I’m looking forward to meeting readers in Beaverton and sharing a few tales from the trail.”

Don’t miss your chance to meet one of Canada’s most celebrated explorers and storytellers, right here in Brock Township.
