UXBRIDGE: Every summer for the past 30 years, selected Uxbridge and area residents have opened their gardens to visitors during the Annual Gardens of Uxbridge Tour.
This year’s Tour will take place on June 20th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For the 30th anniversary, there are some very special additions to the day’s outing.
Molly Shannon, of Canadian Succulents, will be on hand to host two workshops at The Historic Leaskdale Church, at 9 a.m. and at 4 p.m. Molly will talk about the care and propagation of succulents and then help you design your own succulent arrangement.
Tea and scones will be served at The Historic Leaskdale Church from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We feature four gardens in Uxbridge. Each of the four gardens is unique and notable: a native plant extravaganza, a living roof, a shady walk, and a blue-and-yellow colour scheme.
The country gardens are just as varied: one carved out of a woodland, another set on a windy hill with views for miles, a garden dedicated to growing a crop, and one that sustains a family with food all year round.
Most gardens will have one or two artists set up to paint the scenes and display their work for sale. There will be plants for sale, too.
An antique car with a fascinating history will be on display.
On June 20th, the gardens will be in full bloom, ready for you to admire, to learn from, and pick up ideas for your own botanical creation.
Proceeds from the Tour are for the care and upkeep of the Lucy Maud Montgomery National Historic Site in Leaskdale: www.lucymaudmontgomery.ca.
Tickets are on sale now. If you register before May 15th, you have a chance to win the Early Bird Draw for gift certificates from Lee Valley Tools and Richter’s Herbs. It’s easy to buy your Tour Tickets and register for a Succulent Workshop online at www.gardensofuxbridge.org
