Another rather dreary week with the temperatures hovering around 0c most days and snow melting almost as fast as it fell, which happened most days. It was nice though to not be enduring such low temps as we had previously. We are warned though that these conditions will return soon!

This week was rather uneventful as people and organizations gear up for more activities as we move into spring. I want to start with something I mentioned before but that is not happening until May, and that is the Friday night concerts at the Foster Memorial. These concerts have been happening for many years, and are an event looked foreword to by many who come on a regular basis. We have meant loyalty performers, some who have been on stage for many of those years. There is a great variety of music performed so attendees are sure to find much to their liking. Unfortunately there have been some upsets this past year, one of which is that Friends of the Foster, the very small group of volunteers who organize and run each Friday night is getting smaller, and older. As well, there is some concern about the parking since Durham 1 has been refurbished with bike lanes etc and that remains as a possible difficulty for our loyal patrons. Spring will determine that but we also need more people who would like to be part of the welcome committee each evening. Admission is by donation at the door and money so raised is what funds most of the repairs that are needed to maintain this unique building. It is truly am unique structure not only for Uxbridge but Ontario and probably Canada! It deserves much more attention than what it gets!.if you could spare a little extra time please call Bev Northeast at:905-640-3966 or email at: beverlynortheast@gmail.com. Help for us and a free concert for you!

I noticed one event being advertised which is still some months away but a day I don’t want to miss this year, the Uxbridge Scottish Festival! I always enjoy that day but have missed too often. So glad it is o Ing again! Oh yes, and vendors are asked to get there ask in quickly so you don’t miss out on space!

The Zephyr Scott Lions club members are so busy it makes you head spin trying to keep up.0n Mar.7 they will be holding a pancake breakfast, $5. It runs from 8-11 am. They are asking for the usual donations of milk bags , glasses etc but also for monetary donations which will be used to help purchase a special child chemo chair, for Scarborough Centennial Hospital. This sounds like a very special project for them to take on! Price of chair in &1200! At the same time there will be silent auction of donated items. On Mar. 14 these same busy folk are having their spaghetti supper, people have been asking! Come May, they are planning another seasonal market, Spring this time. It is on the 24th so get your speaker in for a booth to display your treasures.
