Weight Restriction season on Regional roads begins has begun

DURHAM: The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise residents that the Region restricts motor vehicles’ operation on designated roads during the spring weight restriction season, as per the Highway Traffic Act. This affects vehicles that are heavier than 5,000 kilograms (i.e., five tonnes) per axle.

This is in place from February 26th to April 30th. The actual end date will be determined following periodic reviews of road and weather conditions towards the weight restriction season’s end.

Signs will be erected on all Regional roads where these weight restrictions apply. Please refer to the complete map for more information.

Weight restrictions are needed to prevent damage to Regional roads.

Most public utility and emergency vehicles are exempt from the weight restrictions. For more information, visit durham.ca/WeightRestrictions.
