Uxbridge's Senior of the Year announced

The Township of Uxbridge is pleased to announce Sandra Will has been selected Senior of the Year. Mrs. Will received an Ontario Senior of the Year Award on June 4th in recognition of her outstanding contributions to our community.

Sandra has volunteered with the Hospital Auxiliary for 40 years, holding multiple volunteer positions within the Auxiliary including as President, Past President, Secretary of the Executive and former newsletter editor. Sandra is presently working at the thrift shop, Chances Are, and in our Cottage Gift Shop in the hospital. She also is a ‘wayfinder,’ greeting patients at the hospital entrance and helping them find their way to wherever they need to go within the hospital. Sandra is also an Auxiliary baker, knitter, a fundraiser, and raises sponsorships for our annual Run For the Diamond.

“The Hospital Auxiliary is critical to the success of our hospital, and Sandra Will is critical to the success of the Auxiliary,” said Mayor Dave Barton. “Our community is fortunate to have Sandra, and the Township of Uxbridge Council was pleased to support Sandra’s nomination to celebrate her contributions through the Senior of the Year award.”

The Ontario Senior of the Year Award recognizes outstanding seniors over 65 who enrich the community's social, cultural, or civic life. It is awarded by the municipality they live in following a nomination. For further information on the award or nomination eligibility, visit ontario.ca/page/honours-and-awards-community.
