Under-18 Wolves howling with excitement ahead of new season

DARRYL KNIGHT The Standard SCUGOG: The 2022-23 minor hockey season is just around the corner, and the Under-18 Central Ontario Wolves are busy preparing for another campaign at Scugog Arena.

The team recently announced they will be hosting their tryout camp, in Port Perry, beginning on Wednesday, August 23rd.

The Wolves will host their inaugural COW Country Tryout Exhibition Series at Scugog Arena, which will bring several of the top Under-18 'AAA' hockey teams to Port Perry for a thrilling weekend of action on the ice.

On Saturday, August 26th, the Wolves take part in a doubleheader. First, they tangle with the North Central Predators, at noon, before squaring off against the Markham Majors at 6 p.m. Then, on Sunday at noon, the Wolves will be back in action against the Mississauga Senators.

Since 2016, the Under-18 Wolves have made Scugog Arena their home base with a proven track record of advancing players to higher levels. The team has had graduates move onto every level of junior hockey, including the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), as well as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), in the United States.

"We're very proud of the work we have done with our program and the success our alumni have found when they have graduated," Head Coach Brad Bricknell told The Standard. "But, we feel like we're just getting started, and the best is yet to come. We're hoping to have another great season and want to encourage the entire community to come out and support the Wolves, starting with this new pre-season event."
