KAWARTHA LAKES: The 171st Lindsay Exhibition, affectionately known as the LEX, got off to a thrilling start this past weekend, bringing together the Lindsay community for a celebration of agriculture, family fun, and competitive events. The fair continues through Sunday, September 21st, with plenty of activities planned for the rest of the week.
Saturday, September 13th, featured Heavy Horse Line Classes, a Truck Show & Shine, Dairy Goat and Light Horse Shows, and the Ambassador Competition. Visitors enjoyed live entertainment, from Marky Monday and a dazzling Truck Light Show, along with a separate ticketed concert, by the GunSlingers.
Sunday brought many of Saturday’s popular events back, with the addition of the Rabbit & Cavy Show and a meet-and-greet with Bluey & Bingo. Windy Ridge performed live music throughout the day, keeping the fairgrounds lively for all ages.
Monday and Tuesday were dedicated to judging, as Homecraft and Junior Arts entries were dropped off on Monday, and Ag Products and Horticulture entries were recognized on Tuesday.
“The fair is such a cornerstone of Lindsay,” said Maria Thompson, a long-time resident. “It’s wonderful to see families coming together to enjoy the horses, animals, and local talent.”
“I love bringing my kids here every year,” said Daniel Fournier. “The variety of events and animals make it fun for everyone, and it really shows the spirit of our town.”
“It’s exciting to see so many people out enjoying the fair,” added Sarah Mitchell, another Lindsay resident. “There’s something for all ages, and it really brings everyone together.”
Wednesday, September 17th, marks a free admission day, offering highlights like: the 4-H Championship Show, Hoof print Vaulting Demonstrations, the Team Tractor Pull, and the Hot dog Eating Contest. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the free entry and enjoy a full day of family-friendly activities.
The rest of the week promises more excitement, with events including: the Market Lamb/Kid and Sheep Shows, the Carriage Driving Derby, the Canine Circus, the PRO FMX Show, the Demo Cross, English & Western Horse Shows, Poultry Shows, the Hunter Jumper Show, and the highly anticipated Demolition Derby on Sunday. Tractor pulls, musical performances, and livestock sales will continue to entertain attendees.
From September 18th to 21st, tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and youth, and $5 for children aged 6 to 12. Pay-One-Price wristbands are also available for adults ($60), seniors/youth ($45), and children 6 to 12 ($15). Midway wristbands can be purchased in advance, and the beer tent operates from September 17th to 21st. Pets are not permitted on the grounds, except for service animals.
With agricultural showcases, competitive events, live music, and activities for all ages, the 171st Lindsay Exhibition continues to be a highlight of the season, offering memorable experiences for locals and visitors alike.
