Stop! For the new all-way stop in downtown Cannington

BROCK: In support of Durham Vision Zero, the Region has introduced a new all-way stop at Cameron Street and Laidlaw Street in Cannington to improve roadway safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians. The new all-way stop will require all drivers in each direction to stop their vehicle before entering the intersection, as well as yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk and any traffic in or approaching the intersection. With a new controlled crossing, this initiative will improve road safety for drivers exiting from Laidlaw Street. The intersection will also be improved with ladder markings—striped pavement markings painted within pedestrian crosswalks—to increase driver awareness and visibility of the pedestrian crossing. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to exercise additional caution for everyone’s safety. Durham Vision Zero is a multi-year, multi-agency strategy with the ultimate goal of eliminating all roadway deaths and serious injuries. Drivers, cyclists and pedestrians are reminded to exercise additional caution for everyone’s safety.
