The 2024 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo has arrived in Lindsay. As Co-Chair of the Special Events and Special Features Committees, it was an honour to help bring this great event to Kawartha Lakes. A special thank you to all the organizers and volunteers who made this a huge success.
On Saturday, October 12th Kawartha Lakes will host “Farm Fest”. This is a one-day event involving numerous host farms that will showcase their various products. For more information check out www.kawarthafarmfest.com.
I have been busy on the newly formed Council Roads Task Force. We will be looking at more efficient ways of getting our road network repaired and maintained in future capital budgets. Also, I have submitted a memo to the Task Force to raise more capital funds for roads and infrastructure.
Recently we had our grand opening of the expanded classrooms and daycare centre at Scott Young Public School in Omemee.
There will be a public meeting in Omemee regarding the proposed Splash Pad. It is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th at the Emily-Omemee Community Centre at 6 p.m. We will be introducing a proposal to re-develop Omemee Beach Park including a provision for a splash pad. Everyone is encouraged to attend as community feedback is very important for this project.
I will be hosting a Town Hall on October 23rd at 7 p.m. at the Lindsay Rugby Football Club at 67 Vince Jones Road just east of Lindsay. Many topics will be discussed including a powerpoint presentation and videos of my work for Ward 6 and Kawartha Lakes. A question-and-answer session will also occur after the meeting.
