BROCK: Beaverton residents are digging out after a historic snowstorm dumped approximately three feet of snow on the community over Friday, January 3rd, and Saturday, January 4th. The Township of Brock declared a significant snowfall event as plows and snowblowers worked tirelessly to clear the streets and sidewalks.

Cannington, Sunderland, and other parts of the area, including Kawartha Lakes communities experienced significant snowfall over the weekend as well.

Regional Councillor Mike Jubb described the storm as "one of the most significant weather events our township has seen in years." He added, "The sheer volume of snow has been overwhelming, but our crews are working around the clock to restore normalcy to the community."

The Township of Uxbridge has stepped in to assist, lending equipment and personnel to aid in the cleanup efforts. "We are incredibly grateful for the support from our neighbours in Uxbridge," Councillor Jubb said. "Their assistance has been crucial in helping us manage this unprecedented snowfall."

The storm caused widespread disruptions, with several roads rendered impassable and some residents experiencing delays. However, no injuries or major incidents have been reported.

Local resident Sarah Thompson shared her experience: "It’s been a challenge, but it’s amazing to see everyone coming together to help. Neighbours have been out with shovels, and the sense of community is really heartwarming."

While no additional snow is forecast for the coming week, temperatures are expected to remain well below zero. Residents are urged to take precautions against the cold and to avoid unnecessary travel until roads and sidewalks are fully cleared.

"We’re asking everyone to be patient as we continue to work through the snow removal process," Councillor Jubb emphasized. "This is a team effort, and we’re confident we will be able to bounce back quickly."

As the community digs out, the storm serves as a reminder of the resilience and camaraderie of Brock’s residents in the face of challenging weather conditions.
