Scugog Sports Hall of Fame summer update

SCUGOG: Planning is underway for the annual Scugog Sports Hall of Fame inductions. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, April 25th, 2024, so you have plenty of time to plan ahead and mark your calendar. Inductees will be selected by the committee this fall.

Nominations are being accepted now and must be received by September 1st, 2023, in order to be considered for the 2024 class of inductees. Nominations received after September 1st will be kept on file and reviewed for future induction.

The committee is also looking for submissions, for volunteers who have contributed significantly to a Scugog sports organization or sports in Scugog and youth (under 18) athletes,[who] should be recognized for their athletic achievements. Submissions may be emailed to liashbridge@gmail.com

Sports clubs and associations, celebrating a special anniversary in 2024, may contact the Township of Scugog Recreation Dept to be included in the ceremony.

The Sports Hall of Fame summer exhibit entitled 'Jackets, Jerseys and Summer Memories' is now open for visitors. The exhibit features baseball and softball history from around Scugog.

In addition to the summer exhibit, on the main level in Pad 2 area, a new exhibit, featuring Rick Finlay and his Port Perry Angels, has been added to the main exhibit on the second floor.

The Hall is accepting donations towards the preservation and display of the artifact collection. Donating is easy. An automatic receipt will be issued. You may also send a cheque, payable to the Township of Scugog Sports Hall of Fame, directly to Community Services - Parks, Recreation and Culture, at 1655 Reach Street, Port Perry, ON L9L 1P2. Receipts will be issued for all donations of $25 and up. All donors will be recognized at the induction event.
