SCUGOG: Scugog will be searching for a new Scugog Island representative on council, as Ward 3 Councillor Angus Ross is resigning, effective at the end of this month.

Included in council’s meeting agenda on Monday, June 21st, was Councillor Ross’ resignation letter. The letter explained he and his family “are relocating out of Scugog Township.” Thus he would no longer be eligible to hold the Ward 3 seat.

During the meeting, Councillor Ross was given an opportunity to discuss the decision.

“I just want to give a quick thank you to the residents of Ward 3, who put their faith in me for this term. It was a difficult decision, but one that was best for my family, and we are looking forward to the future,” Councillor Ross said.

The Ward 3 councillor added he feels council “got a lot done over the last three years.”

A special council meeting will be held on June 30th at 9:30 a.m. to declare the seat vacant and discuss which option council will choose to replace the outgoing councillor.
