SCUGOG: On a chilly February morning, the halls of the Scugog Community Recreation Centre will soon be filled with laughter, bright colours, and the excited chatter of children because Family Day Fun is back. Scheduled for Monday, February 16th, the event promises a full day of free activities, where families can craft, play, skate, and make memories together.

From crafts and games, to inflatables, balloon making, face painting, illusion shows, and a family photo booth, there is something for every member of the family. One of the highlights of the day is free public skating, generously sponsored by Scugog Mechanical and the Puckrin Latreille Real Estate Team.

“Family Day Fun is one of our favourite community events because it brings families together in such a positive and meaningful way,” said Michelle Rahm, Recreation & Culture Coordinator. “With the support of our incredible community sponsors, we’re proud to offer a full day of free activities, encouraging families to spend quality time together and create lasting memories.”

Returning visitors are already looking forward to this year’s event. “We came last year and had such a great time,” said Sophie Tremblay, a local parent. “The kids loved the magic show and skating, and we’re excited to do it all again this year. It’s such a fun way for the whole family to spend the day together.”

Participants will use a “Passport to Fun” to track the activities they complete. Completed passports will be entered into a draw, for a chance to win a free week of summer camp registration.

To ensure families can fully participate, pre-registration is required. Three time slots are available: 9 to 11 a.m., 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Registration opened on Monday, January 26th. Families are asked to bring their confirmation email to the event.

Public skating will be an open skate for all ages. Helmets are required for children six and under and recommended for all skaters, while adult supervision is required for children seven and under.

For more information or to reserve a timeslot, visit the Family Day Fun page or contact Public Works and Recreation, at recreation@scugog.ca.
