MESSAGE FROM THE MAYOR Mayor Bobbie Drew, Township of Scugog

The holiday season can be one of the most joyful times of the year, however, it can also be very dangerous. This year, the Scugog and Uxbridge Fire Department’s want you and your family to be as safe as possible, which is why they have teamed up with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council and 105.5 Hits FM for the “12 Days of Holiday Safety” campaign. Beginning on Monday, December 9th, tune into 105.5 Hits FM on weekdays to hear the holiday safety message of the day. Listen for your cue to call back and repeat the message later in the day and you could win a holiday safety prize pack! Also, follow #holidaysafety on social media for more holiday safety tips and resources! The holidays are a great time for friends and families to get together, but with celebration comes a greater risk of fire. All it takes is for a pot to be left on the stove, or a burning candle left unattended, and celebrations can turn to tragedy. Scugog Fire Prevention Officer, Kristy – Lynn Pankhurst says, “before festivities begin, please test your smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and review your home fire escape plan. Don’t invite disaster to your house for the holidays.” Happy Holidays from Fire and Emergency Services. Visit scugog.ca/fire for holiday safety information.
