Roar by the Shores poker run returns to Port Perry for second year

DAN CEARNS, The Standard

SCUGOG: Roar by the Shores organizers are bringing back the classic car poker run for a second year.

The event will be held on Sunday, June 26th, with check-in time running from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the Medical Associates of Port Perry parking lot.

At a poker run, participants check in to each stop and receive a poker card and then when they reach the final location, the best poker hand wins a prize.

This year, there will be seven stops on the poker run rather than the five of last year. Organizer Dave Roulston told The Standard this is because “some of the drivers wanted it [to be a] longer run.”

The run will go from Medical Associates to the Gus Brown dealership, and then to Cartwright Fields, Canadian Tire Port Perry, Applewood Farm Winery, and Willowtree Farm before finishing at the Port Perry Fairgrounds.

Mr. Roulston stated the reason they decided to make the Roar by the Shores event a poker run again is the current COVID-19 situation in Ontario. Organizers are currently looking for volunteers to help with the event.

Entry into the event is $20 per car. The event is a fundraiser for the Port Perry Hospital Foundation. Ticketing for the event is being done through Eventbrite. For more information on how to register, go online to:
