SCUGOG: The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) will be hosting their 25th Traditional Powwow this weekend.

Grand entry will be held at noon and 7 p.m., on Saturday, July 15th and at noon, on Sunday, July 16th. The event will be held on the Powwow grounds on Scugog Island, at 22521 Island Road.

“The pow wow features a variety of traditional ceremonies, dances, and songs, and it is an opportunity for Indigenous people to come together to celebrate life, honour people past and present, and share part of our culture with others from across North America. The MSIFN Powwow is a significant event in the community, and we invite you to join us,” read a post on the MSIFN website.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, and children who are 12 years of age and under. The MSIFN asks people not to bring alcohol, drugs, their dogs or other pets, or outside food or drink to the event. The Powwow is slated to be held rain or shine.
