SCUGOG: July was a busy month on the courts of the Port Perry Tennis Club (PPTC), as the summer programs continue along with the leagues and the Summer Youth Camps.
The summer programs started the week of July 7th and will continue until the week of August 22nd.
The Club Coaching staff has prepared the schedule for the Autumn programs, with registration available after August 1st, 2025. The Autumn programs will run from the week of September 8th until October 9th.
The Port Perry Tennis club hosted the 2025 Uxport Inter Club Tournament with the Uxbridge Tennis Club on Saturday, July 12th. After some great games the Port Perry Club was victorious with a 15 to 9 win.
The morning 50+ Drop In tennis continues, with some play moved to the afternoon, to accommodate the Youth Tennis Camps.
The Tuesday night Intermediate league continues, with matches at 4:30 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.
The Thursday night league for the Beginner level continues throughout the season.
The Singles ladder continues, now, in the second phase. There have been many games played on the singles ladder, as some players moved up the ladder and some down.
The Club ran two week-long Summer Junior Tennis camps, a total of 60 kids participated. One camp, was facilitated on behalf of the Scugog Township Summer Recreation Program, and the other was a Tennis Club camp. Fortunately, the weather cooperated and no days had to be cancelled due to rain. A good time was had by all the kids.
The Club Coaching staff, under the direction of our Club Pro, Colin Hooper, conducted many private lessons for individuals interested in improving their game, during the month of July.
