On The Courts: 2025 Club Championship

SCUGOG: The Port Perry Tennis Club hosted its 2025 Club Championships last weekend, featuring some outstanding matches throughout the tournament. With the exception of a couple of slight showers on Sunday, the weather and tennis were great. There had been a sabbatical, in holding the Club Championships, for some time, so it was encouraging to see the event take place this year.
There were six teams competing in the Mixed Doubles Event, on Saturday, with some very good matches in the Round Robbin. The team of Cathy Kaus and John Swindell played the team of Cydele Fadeeva and Ross Dube in the Final Match.
With the lead going back and forth, the team of Cydele and Ross narrowly edged out John and Cathy, after a seven-point tie breaker, to win the 2025 Mixed Doubles Championship.
Twelve players competed in the Men’s Single Event, with the Round Robbin played on Saturday.
At the end of play, on Saturday, Patrick Fradely-Davis, Matt Goad, Mark Orchard, and Adam Pyke qualified for the semi-finals on Sunday. In the semi-final play on Sunday, Matt Goad defeated Mark Orchard, in a seven-point tie breaker, to advance to the Final match. In the other semi-final match, Adam Pyke defeated Patrick Fradley-Davis, also in a seven-point tie breaker, to advance to the Final Match.
In the final match, Matt Goad defeated Adam Pyke, winning the 2025 Men’s Singles Championship.
There were six teams competing in the Men’s Doubles Event, on Sunday morning. During the Round Robbin play, the team of Adam Pyke and Vikas Kumar went undefeated, to advance to the final. Two teams were tied, with a 2-1 record, for the second finalist position, with the finalist being determined by their winning percentage. The team of Bernard Fitzpatrick and Patrick Fradley-Davis was the second finalist to advance to the Final Match.
After a great match, with some exciting rallies, the team of Adam & Vikas narrowly defeated the team of Bernard & Patrick, winning the 2025 Men’s Doubles Championship.
