Oak Ridges Hospice announces new Executive Director

AMY STEVENSON, Fund Development and Communications Coordinator, Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham

SCUGOG: Oak Ridges Hospice (ORH) is excited to announce the appointment of Brent Farr to the role of Executive Director. Brent will have a significant leadership role in transforming the vision of Morgan and Sidhu House into a reality.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Brent Farr to the hospice organization. He comes to us with a great deal of experience in the health care sector, and specifically care in the community across Durham Region. He is a well-respected leader in Durham, and brings a depth of experience that will immediately give us a steady, seasoned Executive Director at the helm” said Board Chair Dr. Steven Russell.

Brent brings thirteen years of experience of working in a community based not-for-profit as the Executive Director of Community Care Durham. He was also previously a member of the Board of Directors of Durham Hospice and believes in the need for enhanced palliative and end-of-life care recognizing the lack of comprehensive services in Durham.

“I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to join the team at Oak Ridges Hospice”, stated Brent. “There has been a tremendous amount of outstanding work that has already been done here, and it is my pleasure to now be part of bringing our new hospice residence into operational reality. Great things are happening at Oak Ridges Hospice.”

Brent added, “We have a wonderful opportunity at ORH as the first hospice residence in Durham Region. Benefitting and learning from the experiences of other hospice residences across Ontario and beyond, ORH will create and implement an outstanding service delivery model that truly meets the palliative care needs of our residents and their families, working together with our community partners”.
