UXBRIDGE: The Uxbridge Prayer Breakfast has expanded to become the North Durham Prayer Breakfast, with the 2026 edition uniting Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock townships.
Taking place on Wednesday, May 20th, from 7 to 9 a.m., at Mill Run Golf Club, in Uxbridge, the popular breakfast will feature keynote speaker Dr. Steven Russell. In 2016, Dr. Russell became the first chair of the Board of Oak Ridges Hospice, a palliative care facility, located in Port Perry, Ontario. He will be sharing the moving story of how this much-needed hospice came to be, highlighting the importance of palliative care in North Durham.
Another highlight of the morning will be a musical performance by accomplished local musician Bev Foster. Ms. Foster is co-founder and executive director of the Room 217 Foundation, a Canadian health arts organization which aims to integrate music into the care giving process. She is also a Community Research Fellow, at the Laurier Centre for Music, in Uxbridge.
The annual prayer breakfast, now in its 15th year, is hosted by the churches of Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock. It draws a large crowd of elected officials, first responders, educators, entertainment/media, clergy and local business leaders, as the community comes together to pray over each sector, harnessing the power of prayer in our local setting. The event is open to all community members in the North Durham area.
Presently, tickets are $25 and available for purchase at: Blue Heron Books, in Uxbridge; Pilgrims Home Hardware, in Sunderland; and Low’s Furniture, in Port Perry. After May 13th, tickets are $30.
