BROCK: The township is calling on residents to recognize the local change makers, those who have made a lasting impact in their community, with nominations now open for the 2025 Awards of Merit.

Presented annually, the Awards of Merit celebrate individuals, groups, and businesses who have enriched the lives of Brock residents or brought recognition to the township, through their work in a wide variety of fields. This year’s event will honour recipients across six distinct categories: Arts, Heritage and Culture, Sports and Recreation, Social Development, Community Service Group or Club, Volunteer of the Year, and Environment/Climate Change Champion.

“These awards are a meaningful way for us to say thank you to the people who go above and beyond to make Brock a better place,” said Regional Councillor Mike Jubb. “Whether it's someone who’s preserved our heritage, lifted others through sport or volunteering, or taken action on the environment, this is our chance to celebrate their dedication.”

Nominations will be accepted online, until Monday, June 30th, and must recognize individuals or organizations who either reside in Brock or actively participate in the community. Submissions will be evaluated based on the nominee’s years of service, the impact of their contributions, and the level of recognition they’ve received locally or beyond.

“This is not just about big achievements,” said Township Clerk Fernando Lamanna. “It’s about the everyday heroes, our artists, volunteers, coaches, and environmental stewards, who put in the work which often goes unrecognized.”

Past recipients of the Awards of Merit have included: community theatre groups, youth sports coaches, long-time volunteers, and sustainability advocates. The township hopes this year’s pool of nominees reflects the same breadth of talent and commitment.

“These awards capture the heart of Brock,” added Councillor Jubb. “If you know someone who’s made a difference, now is the time to shine a light on them.”

To submit a nomination or learn more about the criteria, residents are encouraged to visit the Township of Brock’s official website, before the June 30th deadline.
