New indoor playground open in Uxbridge

COURTNEY McCLURE, for The Standard

UXBRIDGE: KidsPop is a new indoor play facility, opened in Uxbridge. According to the owner, Matthew Cranswick, KidsPop stands for “kids place of play.

KidsPop isn’t a franchise, and there is only one location, which is in Uxbridge.

Mr. Cranswick and his partner are from Port Perry and have young kids of their own. They realized there weren’t any local indoor play structures for kids to enjoy in North Durham, so they decided to create their own. “The goal of [KidsPop] is to keep kids active and social,” explained Mr. Cranswick. “It gets them off their screens [and] gets them playing with other kids.”

While playing on the 14-foot-tall play structure at Kids Pop, please take off your shoes. But make sure to always keep on your socks while playing. Remember to keep your socks on your feet, but KidsPop has socks available to buy if you forget.

They also ask kids and adults not to bring outside food and drink into the play structure. Infant and reusable water bottles are allowed.

When you arrive at KidsPop, you’ll be asked to sign a waiver form. Or you can save some time and fill out the waiver online. You can find the waiver on KidsPop’s website. Visit their web address, at kidspop.ca.

Kids three and under cost $7. Kids four and over can play for $10. Infants under the age of one can play for free, with a paid sibling entry to the facility.

At least one adult must supervise all children. And all adults are allowed into the facility for free.

Adults are allowed on the play structure if their child or children need assistance. For example, a young toddler may need to be carried or helped to safely maneuver throughout the structure.

If you’re interested in hosting your child’s birthday at KidsPop, you can celebrate with a Party Package. The party package includes a private party room with pizza, drinks, and cupcakes for the guests.

There are two packages: The first one is called Fun for ten, and it costs $279 plus HST. The second party package is called Fun for 15, and costs $309 plus HST.

Contact KidsPop to book your child’s party by visiting their website.

You can also subscribe to the KidsPop newsletter by entering your email on their website. Subscribing to the KidsPop newsletter will let you know about new and upcoming events and promotions from KidsPop.

KidsPop is open Monday to Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is located at 141 Reach Street, Unit 2A, in Uxbridge.

The staff at KidsPop haven’t forgotten about the pandemic and have put Covid-19 safety measures in place.

“We will be adhering to the Durham Region Health Department guidelines, to ensure a safe and fun experience for all,” KidsPop wrote on their website.

Areas which are heavily touched will be sanitized with a DRHD approved disinfectant. On the KidsPop website, there’s a link to the DIN number of the product.

The entire KidsPop facility will be sanitized every day, before opening. And, as previously stated, heavily touched surfaces will be sanitized by staff members, regularly throughout the day.

Masks are mandatory for all guests, staff members and employees. There are limited exceptions. For more information, visit the KidsPop website at www.kidspop.ca, or contact them by email at info@kidspop.ca, or you can call them at 365-533-3677.
