I was working out this morning and struggling with a topic to write about. I was doing some core exercise on the ball, and then it occurred to me…. Balance! Life has been so busy for me lately, so it dawned on me that, like exercise, life can truly become a balancing act. How can we find balance in our lives?

Making Time to Move

With all that was going on, I felt mentally drained. I tried to allow time in the morning to move my body. No, I wasn’t working as hard as I normally do, but I needed to move. I kept the weights light and focused more on cardiovascular exercise. I just needed an outlet for my additional stress.

Learning to say “No”

This is a big struggle for a lot of people. I still have to work and train people during the week. Any free time I spent was organizing my art show, so I couldn’t really take on any more. Spring weather brings more yard work at home. When I was asked to dedicate time to other things, I had to say “no.” I only had enough energy to focus on these things and to add more just wasn’t possible.

You can’t do everything

I am the type who wants to jump in and do everything I want to. Alas, I had to tell myself, “You can’t do everything and do it well.” So, I made certain I kept my focus on a few key things:

  1. Exercise

  2. Mental Health

  3. Plan my Art Show

All of these go hand in hand because finding balance is possible when you prioritize what matters.
