I’m not sure what we’re chasing but all I know is, it’s an endless pursuit. When I peruse social media, I am often bombarded with fitness videos, of semi clad women, trying to show me how to exercise. It makes me laugh because other women are looking at this and thinking this it’s the norm. Being, I’m almost forty and have exercised my entire life, I still have body fat and cellulite. I eat well, I exercise, don’t drink or smoke. I do everything right and I am proud of who I am. You should be proud of who you are.
Body fat is Normal
Women have body fat! It is a source of energy for the female body in order to feed a potential fetus. It’s a biological response, so we are blessed more.
Healthy Ranges for Body Fat:
Athletes: 14% to 20%.
Fitness: 21% to 24%.
Average: 25% to 31%.
Obesity: 32% or more.
Exercise
Weight training is a great way to develop muscle mass. Increased muscle mass helps regulate body weight and burns more energy long term. It also increases bone density as we age. It’s also a great way to boost self confidence and self esteem.
Healthy Body Image
It’s easy to be swayed by what we see on social media. It’s important to remember, what you see is not reality. A healthy attitude about body image starts with you. Positive self-talk is imperative, so when I’m having an off moment I tell myself, “You’re doing awesome!”
Eat Well
Having a proper eating pattern is imperative to your over all health and sense of well being. Making quality food choices means finding foods which agree with your system, not just your appetites.
