BROCK: After two years at the helm of the Township of Brock’s administration, Chief Administrative Officer, Michelle Willson has announced she will be stepping down from her role, effective April 10th, as she prepares to pursue a new opportunity outside the area. The Township of Brock is preparing for a leadership transition, following the announcement Michelle Willson will be stepping down from her role.
Ms. Willson confirmed her resignation will take effect April 10th, bringing to a close a two-year tenure marked by significant municipal progress and infrastructure investment.
“It has been an honour to work with Council and staff, over the past two years,” Ms. Willson told The Standard. “Although it’s been a difficult decision, it’s the right one for me and my family. I want to thank the staff for showing me kindness and support, and I'm confident you’ll continue to serve the residents of Brock with passion and dedication.”
Mayor Mike Jubb described the departure as a “bittersweet day” for the municipality, acknowledging both the impact of Ms. Willson’s leadership and the loss of a key figure within the organization.
“Ms. Willson has been with the municipality for two years and has been an extremely dedicated and loyal employee, showing steadfast leadership to staff,” offered Mayor Jubb. “Michelle has also been highly effective in progressing council priorities over this time frame. On behalf of Council, I wish Michelle only the best moving forward, and we thank her for her service to the municipality.”
During her time as CAO, Ms. Willson oversaw a wide range of initiatives which have helped shape the township’s growth and long-term planning. Her tenure saw the advancement of numerous capital projects and community enhancements, including the development of new parks, pavilions and playgrounds, as well as improvements to local arenas.
Several major planning initiatives also moved forward, under her leadership, including the MacLeod Park Plan and the Beaverton Waterfront and Open Space Master Plan. Investments in infrastructure was another key focus, with: upgrades to roads, through the Brock Roads Rehabilitation Master Plan; the introduction of new asphalt technologies; and expanded gravel road improvements.
Additional accomplishments included: the expansion of the municipal works yard; construction of a new sand dome; significant bridge and culvert rehabilitation work; the installation of permanent backup generators, to support municipal facilities during emergencies; and the addition of new fire trucks, to enhance community safety. Through her work, a new dog park and updated public washroom facilities have also contributed to improved quality of life for residents.
Council will now begin the process of recruiting a new CAO, with the goal of ensuring a smooth and seamless transition, in the coming months.
Ms. Willson’s departure marks the end of a productive chapter for the Township of Brock, as the municipality looks ahead to building on the foundation established, during her time in the role.
