Mark Doble Wins Ward 5 By-Election in Kawartha Lakes

KAWARTHA LAKES: The City of Kawartha Lakes has announced the unofficial results of the Ward 5 By-Election which concluded on April 10th.
Mark Doble has emerged as the unofficial winner, securing 49 percent of the vote and receiving 1,176 ballots. Mr. Doble outpaced candidates Pat Dunn, who earned 469 votes, and Duncan Gallacher, who received 459 votes.
The official results are expected to be confirmed in the coming days.
Mr. Doble will officially take office later this month, with a swearing-in ceremony scheduled for April 22nd, 2025, at 1 p.m., in Council Chambers.
The by-election was held following the resignation of, former Ward 5 Councillor, Eric Smeaton, who stepped down, effective November 1st, 2024.
