Lindsay Muskies vs Cobourg Cougars Friday Night

CRAIG SCHROTER Special to The Standard

Cole Patey (pictured on the right) scored his first Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) goal Friday night but it wasn’t enough as the Cobourg Cougars scratched out a 5 to 1 win over the Lindsay Muskies. After a scoreless first period the Cougars scored at 4:26 of the second to open up a lead. Mac Lowry scored the goal putting a one time slap shot past Ben Edwards in the Lindsay goal. Kenny Styles would make it 2 to 0 at 14:13 and that’s the way the period would end. In the third, the Cats scored a pair to put the game away. T.J. Koufis made it 3 to 0 at 2:25, then it was Jason Stachelbeck at 9:32. Patey broke the shutout bid for Dershahn Stewart at 9:44, breaking in from the right side and sliding the puck in, before Nicholas Aromatario rounded out the scoring at 15:22. Two positives for the Muskies were a pair call ups from the Peterborough AAA midgets. Josh Kavanagh and Cole Patey (pictured) each played strong games, with Patey adding that his first OJHL goal was a very nice experience. The next action for the Muskies is next Friday night when they host the Stouffville Spirit.
