Lindsay Muskies vs Brampton Admirals Saturday Night

KAWARTHA LAKES: The Lindsay Muskies were in action in Brampton Saturday night and were able to pick up a hard fought point in a 5 to 4 overtime loss.

The match was an evenly fought back and forth affair all game long. Brampton took a lead at 11:32 of the first period on a goal Keelan Froats, but Curtis Trolley netted his fifth of the year from Adam Miwa and Duncan Scullion at 17:45 to knot things up.

In the second period special teams played a big role as Lindsay defender Artem Guryev scored on a power play from Ryan Hall and Troy Andrews at 11:07. The goal was Guryev’s third of the year, but Brampton would even the game again at 16:50 when Matt Franzoi scored a short handed goal.

In, the third the Admirals regained the lead just 37 seconds in when Froats scored his second of the game. The Muskies would strike back with a pair of quick goals. William Jones (pictured) would pick up his first OJHL goal at 3:39 from Ethan Curtis to tie the game at 3 to 3, then just over a minute later Thomas Johnston gave the Muskies a 4 to 3 lead from Scullion and Miwa. Froats would complete his hat trick on a power play though with five minutes remaining which would send the game to overtime tied at 4 to 4.

With each team assured a point they fought in the four on four overtime for the extra point. It would be the Brampton Admirals Dakota Zarudny who would light the lamp late in the frame on a power play to give the Admirals the win.

The next action for the Muskies is Sunday when they head to Wellington to take on the Dukes.
