KAWARTHA LAKES: With the first pucks dropping on the ice, the Lindsay Lynx girls hockey program is preparing for another thrilling season of speed, skill, and teamwork. Representative teams have already laced up and begun practices, while the house league squads are set to hit the ice later in September, promising a full season of action for players of all ages.
For many players, the start of hockey season is about more than just skating and scoring, it’s about community. “Being part of the Lynx is like having a second family,” said Abby Knight from the Under-13 BB team. “We push each other on the ice and cheer each other on off it. I can’t wait for this season.”
Head Coach, Brian Joss, who leads the Under-13 BB team this year, has emphasized the importance of defensive play. “We’re putting a premium on strong defence this season,” he said. “Our team is disciplined, skilled, and more than up to the task. I’m confident the girls are going to rise to the challenge and show great growth, both individually and as a team.”
The representative teams are already in full swing, focusing on strategies, conditioning, and building team chemistry, while the house league programs provide players with a fun, supportive environment to learn the game. Parents and fans can expect a season full of memorable moments, from fast-paced games to team camaraderie and the thrill of scoring the game-winning goal. For many, it’s a highlight of the autumn and winter months in arenas, in every corner Kawartha Lakes, from Oakwood to Fenelon Falls, and everywhere in between.
As the Lynx prepare to lace up, the message from coaches and players alike is clear: this season is about growth, teamwork, and the sheer joy of playing hockey.
