SCUGOG: Residents in Scugog should prepare for upcoming lane restrictions on Island Road as Durham Region begins a road rehabilitation project later this month.

Lane restrictions will be in place on Island Road (Regional Road 7) from Fralicks Beach Road to Hood Drive beginning May 19th and continuing through June 2026. The work is being carried out to safely rehabilitate the roadway.

Durham Region noted that unfavourable weather conditions could affect the construction schedule. Drivers travelling through the area are being asked to use caution and remain alert for pedestrians, cyclists, and construction crews while work is underway.

Regional officials acknowledged the project may cause temporary disruptions and stated efforts will be made to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Residents can view current construction projects and traffic updates through Durham Region’s TrafficWatch interactive map at Durham TrafficWatch.
