KAWARTHA LAKES: A police officer in the Kawartha Lakes has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Tuesday, February 16th, the Kawartha Lakes Police Service (KLPS) announced that an officer assigned to the Support Services Division tested positive for the virus in a press release.

“This is the first positive case at the Kawartha Lakes Police Service during the pandemic. As a result of the positive test, we are working with Kawartha-Haliburton Public Health to ensure proper contact tracing is completed. The infected officer and three additional officers are currently self-isolating and following health guidelines,” the press release read.

After the positive case, Ross Memorial Hospital and Kawartha Lakes Paramedics Service staff members “quickly arranged and conducted over 40 COVID tests on [their] staff, all with negative results.”
