Kawartha Conservation names a new Chair and Vice Chair

KAWARTHA LAKES: A Kawartha Lakes Councillor has been named the Chair of the Kawartha Conservation Authority board.

Recently, it was announced, Ward 2 Councillor Pat Warren will be the board’s chair for 2024. The decision was made at Kawartha Conservation’s 2024 Annual General Meeting.

“Known for her environmental advocacy, [Pat] Warren also served as Vice-Chair of the Board during 2023 and brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the Kawartha watershed,” a Kawartha Conservation press release stated.

Councillor Warren was the only member of the board nominated for the position of Chair.

“This is a great honour, and I hope to have a very good year working with staff and my fellow directors,” Councillor Warren said in her acceptance speech.

Scugog Ward 4 Councillor, Harold Wright was named the board’s Vice Chair, at the meeting.

“I’ve got one year under my belt with the Conservation Authority. I’m simply quite interested in what goes on here. It’s been a good experience over the year, planning out what gets done, what gets accomplished here,” Councillor Wright said.

Kawartha Conservation’s press release noted, Councillor Wright’s “commitment to the environment and his proactive approach to conservation initiatives have been pivotal in driving positive change within the community.”
