SCUGOG: The Durham Chamber Orchestra (DCO) is pleased to announce their upcoming Christmas concert, titled “Imagine: A Christmas with DCO.” Join us for live performances which range from festive favourites such as Sleigh Ride, A Charlie Brown Christmas to lively modern tunes, including Strauss’ wonderful Blue Danube. Our special feature of John Lennon’s famous “Imagine,” is the featured piece of the concert.
DCO is thrilled to be welcoming, Guest Jazz vocalist, Roxana Amin. Roxanna is a dynamic and versatile performer. She trained at the University of Toronto in jazz voice and has a natural talent for captivating an audience. She has performed various genres, such as pop, R&B, classical and musical theatre, and will always have a soft spot for jazz, her "first language." Roxana not only entertains but provides a connection with the music to the listeners, making it a fun and worthwhile experience for all. The Durham Chamber Orchestra is your community not-for-profit orchestra, composed of local, committed, passionate Musicians. With a basis in Classical Symphonic repertoire, the DCO offers a varied concert season, with fresh and engaging performances and are the only full community orchestra in the Durham Region. Our musicians come from diverse backgrounds, including working and retired professionals, as well as promising young musical talent. They all share a passion for music and aim to open the door to a new musical experience for audiences young and old.
Music Director, Maestro Felipe Luzuriaga brings his extensive experience and degrees from the University of Toronto, Boston Conservatory, and University San Francisco de Quito to the orchestra. He has conducted numerous ensembles and orchestras internationally and has written and arranged music of different genres for studio recordings, films, theatre, and dance. Maestro Luzuriaga is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree, in Orchestral Conducting, at the University of Toronto.
The Durham Chamber Orchestra strongly believes in the importance of giving back to the community and sharing the gift of music with audiences, musicians, and enthusiasts from all walks of life.
