Emterra Environmental is the new recycling collector for homes across Kawartha Lakes which started on January 1st, of this year, operating on behalf of Circular Materials Ontario. This company will now handle recycling collection, including inquiries about missed pickups or damaged bins. For recycling issues, the quickest way to reach out for assistance is to call 1-888-597-1541 or email customercareont@emterra.ca. Miller Waste will still be retained for normal garbage collection. This has been a transitional period and we thank you for your patience. If you cannot get a hold of the company, feel free to contact me.
Two exciting new developments, east and north east of Lindsay, have been officially approved for construction this year. Harbourview Development, in Snug Harbour, will consist of 27 water view and waterside homes plus a new community centre and a new redeveloped marina.
Squire Built Homes will be a 22-home single detached development, in Downeyville. Both of these developments will be a great addition to our community.
I was successful in getting 100 percent support from my Council colleagues, in a Memo I presented to Council, rejecting the federal governments gun buyback program. We are united and it sends a strong message, the federal government needs to concentrate on illegal gun activity, better border control and control of gangs and criminals in our communities. I would like to thank the Kawartha Lakes Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police for deciding to NOT participate in this program.
The Splash Pad project in Omemee has received very large recent contributions, from Countryside Pharmacy in Omemee and PD Realty in Omemee. Thank you to these supporters and to all in our community who are working hard to raise funds to make this a reality.
