Freshness is the key for the new Mary Brown's restaurant in Port Perry

SCUGOG: Mary Brown’s Chicken in Port Perry is offering people a unique dining experience.

“Mary Brown’s is the only chicken brand that is 100 percent Canadian. Our suppliers are Canadian. Second, it is freshness from scratch. None of our competitors are preparing from scratch. This is freshness from scratch and makes Mary Brown’s 100 percent different from other chicken restaurants,” owner Waqar Azam told The Standard.

The business officially opened at their location at 1866 Scugog Street in early August. It was popular demand which helped bring this restaurant chain to the local area.

“We own a few locations of Mary Brown’s. At the Brooklin store, every time people would come over there, from Port Perry, they would say ‘we don’t have one in Port Perry and you should come over there and have a chicken shop here.’ So, that’s the motive behind coming to Port Perry,” owner Aysha Waqar explained.

As well as Port Perry, this pair owns Mary Brown’s franchises in Whitby, Ajax, Pickering and Brooklin.

“We live in Whitby and have never been to Port Perry before. This town is amazing. People here are so friendly and so welcoming,” Ms. Waqar said. “The response we are getting is phenomenal.”

She also described Mary Brown’s as a “people business”

“We love interacting with our guests. We love working with our teams. We also believe in constant growth for our teams so we have constant training programs for our teams. And then the love and care we put into our food, that means a lot to us.”

When asked why people should come eat at Mary Brown’s, Mr. Azam said they have “the best food and the best chicken.”
