SCUGOG: For new owners of the Free Topping Pizza restaurant in Port Perry, Gia LoPatriello and Mariah Gibbs, the local community is everything. “Our main goal is to have the community involved with literally everything we do, keep them updated. I am constantly on social media, letting them know everything we’ve got going on,” Ms. Gibbs explained. The mother-daughter duo took over the business in late October. “This pandemic really put a damper on jobs. For everybody, it’s been such a tough time. We figured, if an opportunity arose, why not invest? It’s a great community to be in. We love this area,” Ms. Gibbs said. The owners are currently running a Christmas food and toy drive at the business. “Our original plan was to help a family in need. Finding the family has been a bit of a difficult situation for us, so we reached out to Durham Region, and we’re partnering with them. We are [sending the proceeds] to them and they will distribute accordingly,” Ms. LoPatriello said. Ms. Gibbs said customers can expect a “friendly environment” and “a really good pizza” when buying from Free Topping Pizza. Despite the pandemic, business remains busy at the restaurant. “We truly are blessed by the town of Port Perry,” Ms. LoPatriello stated. Free Topping Pizza Port Perry is located at 14500 Simcoe St. For more information, you can call Free Topping Pizza at 905-985-9850.
