First I must apologize. I don’t know whose calendar I was checking, but the proper date for the Breakfast in support of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank Project at Epsom Church, Good Friday, is April 3rd at 9:30 a.m. Please keep this date on your calendar and plan to attend. We have been made aware of the desperate need for aid in areas around the world.
Sending all March birthdays and anniversaries warm congratulations for a year full of blessings and lasting memories.
This past week, Ontario Holstein Dairy Farmers and Friends car toured through the county from the Cannington area at Granron Holsteins, on to the Beckham Holstein, Sunderland, to Westport Holstein. In Epsom, guests were treated to chilli and treats provided by Mary’s Country Kitchen, then on Loa-De-Mede Farm on Town Line, Oshawa. All got to view some of the best herds in Ontario County. Thanks to these farmers for opening their barns for the day.
It is good to see some of the snow disappear over the last two days, without much flooding. Possibly, the ground under all that snow is not frozen too solid.
The first tapping happened at Pefferlaw CreekFarms in Leaskdale. A good crowd enjoyed a tour of the second-largest maple producer in Ontario with 56000 taps.
The Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival launches its season with a first tapping ceremony on Saturday, March 14th, at Harlaine Farm, in Sunderland, from 1 to 3 p.m., ahead of the festival on April 11th to 12th. The taps are going in on our farm tomorrow, now that it’s not so difficult to navigate through all that snow. Now, to rely on the weather to do its job.
Come to church at Epsom United Church on Sunday, March 15th, at 10:30 a.m. for worship and fellowship.
